Booking Through Thursday - Niche

Things have been so busy lately that I've been having a hard time even getting around to posting about the books I have managed to read. Hopefully things will be calming down a bit so I can catch up. In the meantime, it's Thursday...

There are certain types of books that I more or less assume all readers read. (Novels, for example.)

But then there are books that only YOU read. Instructional manuals for fly-fishing. How-to books for spinning yarn. How to cook the perfect souffle. Rebuilding car engines in three easy steps. Dog training for dummies. Rewiring your house without electrocuting yourself. Tips on how to build a NASCAR course in your backyard. Stuff like that.

What niche books do YOU read?

I really like this question and I'm looking forward to blog surfing to find out about all the weird and wonderful niche books everyone else reads.

Unfortunately I don't have anything terribly exciting to report. I have a bev of knitting pattern books and vegetarian cook books as well as some book binding manuals.

  1. I'm there with you about finding time to post!

Well, considering I haven't ready any of those types of books, then I'd say yours are exciting! Very interesting!

  3. Have you ever done any bookbinding? It sounds fascinating- I've always had a casual interest in it, but never done any.

  4. I have actually done bookbinding (when I was in grad school I worked as an apprentice to a rare book conservator) and some of my bookbinding books are actually ones I rebound for practice. I need to get my act together and take some photos to post on the blog.

  6. I am not on the look out for specific niche books but if I see one about history or dogs I pick it up.

  7. Book binding manuals . . . now that would be interesting! I do have cookbooks throughout the house, but most were gifts from other people. And since I leave all of the cooking to my husband, they're more his than mine.

  11. I agree, I like this question too! I love learning about reading habits, and this one tells you a lot on the blogger themselves :)

I have some knitting books too! I don't get much time to use them though, but when I do, it's mostly lace.

My niche is art and photography books!

  14. Book binding sounds pretty interesting, actually. Do you repair books yourself as a hobby or are you just interested in it?
